Blogger Party !!

Hey readers! Today I wanted to participate in a quick tag from Abigail Lennah from the Ups & Downs. She recently did a post about her dream blogger meet up, and I was so excited to participate. If you haven't read her post yet, go read it, because all her ideas are so awesome. As for my dream blogger party (to which you are ALL invited):

Venue: Ok definitely a big city, such as New York or LA. We'd need a lot of places to visit and aesthetic things to do. Plus exploring the city with all of you in small groups, taking photos, eating at little cafes, and buying stuff at little shops would be so much fun.

Three Foods:
1) Pancakes. Every morning. Vanessa did a pancake tag forever ago and I still haven't gotten those photos out of my head I need to eat a pancake breakfast with you all.
2) Tea and coffee (even though they are drinks) because who hasn't posted a photo of their aesthetic drink before? Plus I'm pretty sure every blogger has either a tea or coffee obsession (or at least all the ones I've talked to).
3) Pasta and salad. Because it's pasta and salad and everyone likes it and nothing is better than spaghetti and caesar salad after a long day out.

Five Artists or Bands: Oh no. I'm going to try and choose not super obscure stuff ok I'm really trying.
1) Panic! At the Disco because don't pretend like half of you guys aren't secretly emo ok we're going to need that.
2) Probably Lorde because her new Melodrama album is priceless and would be great to listen to while talking and chilling late into the night.
3) American Authors are also just nice to jam and generally upbeat and happy too add those guys in there.
4) Depeche Mode. Because aesthetic jam.
5) Ed Sheeran because I'm pretty sure everyone knows some of his songs and they're all pretty nice and pleasant.

Three Activities:
1) TAKING PHOTOS OF THE AESTHETICS
2) Ranting. About books and movies and art and everything in between.
3) Probably sitting around reading because let's be real like over half of us are introverts and are going to need that downtime. I'm not an extrovert so I'll be partaking in that. For extroverts who don't want to read (because you very well might and if so please join us) there will be an ongoing dance party which everyone is free to participate in (including introverts I love dancing so I will also be there).

Collab Post to Do At the Party:
Hmm. I feel like it would be fun to write a story with some of you writers out there. Or maybe a creative thing where each of us tells a story from a different characters perspective and puts them all together to make a very dynamic impression of a single experience? Let me know if you want to participate in that with me haha I feel like it would be so cool.

What Interactions or Habits Would You Notice? Well the first thing that popped into my head is that I'd see who was actually a neat organized person and who just sweeps everything off their desk so they can take the "clean" picture. I am an in between to be honest. I would also like to see who is constantly writing/drawing in notebooks (me) or taking photos with their fancy camera. I like to watch artists in action. Also I'm excited to see my fashion blogger friends preparing special outfits for days out (give me some tips please).

Madeline @ A Chic Bookworm!

I have had a lot of fun checking out Madeline's lovely bookish blog and getting to know her through her posts. I found that Madeline and I have a lot in common- besides both being book-obsessed bloggers we also both run cross country! 

So as Madeline's gift, I'm going to be doing a little review of her blog. So here are the things I love about A Chic Bookworm:

-The very aesthetic bookstagram worthy pictures. Madeline's books photos are simply beautiful, and I love how they really tie the whole blog together

-Her reviews (of course). Madeline has a really great way of capturing the best and worst parts of a book, along with awesome graphics to make the post even more enjoyable to read.

-The overall layout of the blog. Madeline's blog template is just too pretty not to compliment. Honestly it's beautiful, and her blog graphics add so much to each post.

-Madeline's spunky writing voice! She's so upbeat and cheerful, she's a lot of fun to read!

-The nice mix of book posts and lifestyle posts are a good balance and engaging to the readers.

-Madeline herself. I have interacted with Madeline a few times through comments, and she is friendly, interesting, and welcoming to everyone on her blog. I can't wait to get to know her better and continue reading her blog in the coming year!

The Character Karaoke Tag

Hey guys! Ellie nominated me for this tag! Thanks Ellie! I'm going to be focusing on my contemporary for this one, which focuses on two teens: Emmanuel and Athena. I don't yet have a title-- working on that.

What song best describes the mood of your novel?

This one was really hard to choose, but I think "Let Your Troubles Roll By" by Carbon Leaf is the mood I'm looking for. This novel has a lot of reflections of things that I've experienced in my life, and during that time I listened to this song a lot, and I think it really leaked into the book a lot and into the souls of the characters.

Pick a Character and A Song to Describe Them

For this one I'm going to Emmanuel-- my artsy protagonist. For him I think that the song I would choose is Addict with a Pen by Twenty One Pilots. Emmanuel has a really friendly outward appearance and has convinced pretty much everyone, including himself, that he's ok. But really he's hurting from stuff that happened to him in the past and has locked it all away deep inside his heart. He's also searching for answers and reasons, whether he realizes or not. I feel like this song really describes how Emmanuel truly feels.

One of your characters at karaoke night when- gasp!- they've been asked to get up and sing! What song do they choose and how do they perform it?

First of all, if Athena was asked to sing Karaoke she would NOT be into it. She would probably freak out and shake her head and Emmanuel would have to drag her onto the stage. But once she got over it, I'm pretty sure she would choose Fight Song. Although Athena wouldn't usually listen to such mainstream music, Fight Song is definitely an Athena song for something like karaoke.

Go-To Song When Writing Battle Scenes

Unfortunately, in this particular story there are not any battle scenes (it's frankly a huge drawback to consider if you are thinking of writing contemporary). But when I do write battle scenes I listen to something with a lot of instruments and tension. Lately I have been into listening to the Dr. Strange soundtrack at like all times of the day, so I would probably say one of those. Maybe Smote and Mirrors or Astral Doom, if you want the specific tracks.

To Kill A Mockingbird is by far one of the best books I've ever read- it was just so so good.

Poseidon/Neptune- God of the Seas and Earthquakes: Book that Drowned you in Feels

I still haven't fully recovered.

Athena/Minerva- Goddess of Wisdom, Handicraft, and Strategic Warfare: Series with the Best World-Building

The world in this series was great as well as the plot and structure and everything about it.

Hades/Pluto- God of the Underworld: Favorite Book with a Dark, Ominous Plot

Stephen King is a master at freaking people out, and this book was spooky for sure.

Aphrodite/Venus- Goddess of Love and Beauty: Favorite Book Cover on a 2016 Release

I have yet to read this one as it just came out, but is that cover not totally epic?

Ares/Mars: God of War and Bloodshed: Most Violent Book You've Ever Read

There was a lot of assassination and just generally disturbing things that happened in these books, especially this one. But they were superb books and I love them and would recommend them, just fair warning.

Hephaestus/Vulcan- God of Blacksmiths and Fire: Biggest Fictional Crush

Haha sorry to double up on the Percy Jackson references but Leo Valdez...He's great

Artemis/Diana- Goddess of the Hunt and Virginity: Favorite Heroine

Nasuada definitely wins this one-- she essentially carried this whole series on her back and saved everyone. She is amazing. ((and there is also not any good fan art of her I tried))

Phoebus Apollo/Apollo- God of Lights and Healing: Sequel Book that Redeemed it's Series

I don't know if I could go so far as to say it 'redeemed' the series but at least it closed it up as neatly as possible and left it alone for good. 

Hermes/Mercury- Messenger God of Thieves and Commerce: Book with the Best Message

This book is just incredible. It changed my whole life. I highly, highly recommend it.

Hestia/Vesta- Goddess of Hearth and Home: Most Relatable Book ((Or Book that is Closest to Your Heart in General))

This book has meant a lot to me for a really long time. It's sort of just my comfort book, the book that I turn to when I just need something warm and familiar and beautiful to read. This is that book for me.

Demeter/Ceres- Goddess of Fertility and Agriculture: Favorite Bookish Setting

The Night Circus!! This book's whole vibe is just too fun.

Dionysus/Bacchus- God of Wine and Celebration: 2016 Book You are Most Anticipating

Mic's Questions:

1. What is the name and what does she/he look like of your favored character? My favorite character I've ever written as of now is Emmanuel who is this artsy kid who plays a lot of video games. He's blond with blue eyes and not that tall, and wears T-shirts, jeans, and beat up Vans all the time. 

2. What would you describe your writing style as? I think my writing style is fairly descriptive, but I can't really describe it haha, this is hard question.

3. How much writing do you complete in a week? I have no idea to be honest- it depends on how busy I am and how inspired I guess.

4. Plotting...on a note card, in a notebook, or in your brain? I plot in a notebook.

5. What does your book couple's wedding look like? Oh my gosh haha this is too funny. Ok I feel like it would be on a mountain with the sun setting in the background, and they would time it perfectly so that they would kiss just as the sun sunk below the horizon. And yes that's cheesy but I'm sorry it's accurate.

6. Ever sketch your characters? Care to share? Um haha yes I do quite a bit actually. Here's one that's super cutesy but oh well it's the best one I have of my current WIP (I did it a while ago so of course I think it's awful but oh well)

7. When did you start to write? As soon as I learned I think. The oldest stuff I have is from second grade, when I was writing stories about leprechauns and dinosaurs.

8. What inspired you? Apparently leprechauns and dinosaurs.

9. What still inspires you? Other books, you writer-y bloggers, and my friend who writes with me.

10. And finally, what would your published book look like, inside and out? Ahh it depends which book it is- the contemporary one I'm working on now (with the above characters) would probably attempt to be very aesthetic and simple, and I'd be very persnickety about the font. My fantasy one that I'm plotting for Nano (screams because it's so soon help) would be the opposite- super busy with over the top fonts and an epic cover.

Vanessa's Questions: 

1. If you could have any writing power what would it be? To be able to think of valid plot twists haha.

2. How do you plot your books? In a journal, I just sort of brainstorm in one giant melting pot then try to sort it out. I do this more for fantasy plots- for contemporaries I just think up a million scenes in my head and then string them together as I'm writing (which is a bad strategy because eventually you run out of scenes and then you're screwed)

3. What is the most frustrating thing that has happened to you while writing? One time I worked really hard on a piece that I submitted into a writing contest and I didn't win and I was pretty disappointed (shallow I know but I spent SO much time on that thing)

4. What's your favorite thing to snack to have while writing? Gosh, I don't usually eat while writing to be honest, but I suppose it would be like crackers or carrots or something.

5. Which word would you say you write too often? I think I write silence and turned too often- I seem to have a lot of scenes where the characters sit in silence (AND NOW I JUST SIT IN SILENCE I'msorrythatwasyeahsorryihadto) and turn around or face something else if that makes sense?

6. Where do you get your writing inspiration? see above question :)

7. Longest amount of time you have written for? I guess I've written for the entire day a few times.

8. Most loved blog post? Of mine? I really love all my blog posts with poetry- First Day being my favorite right now because it's new and I don't hate it yet.

9. Tips for new book writers? haha I sort of consider myself a fairly new book writer (since I've never been published or anything) but I guess my advice to my peers is to not stress the first draft, and just throw everything you can think of into it and not edit it later.

10. Favorite season to write about? I think summer. You don't have to write about school in summer so that's fun.
