A Serious Case Of Not Caring

Hello, hello, Doctor is it you?

Yes it is I, no I don’t have the flu

I’ve called you with something much more urgent you see,

And I sincerely hope that you can help me.

If only you could see how badly I’m faring,

I believe I’ve come down with a serious case of not caring!
My lack of motivation, hope and persistence

Is what caused me to ring you for assistance

You see I don’t care so much about anything at all,

I noticed it starting at the beginning of fall

It came on slowly,

And then all at once

Until suddenly nothing

Was worth all the fuss

Just ask my mother,

My sister

My brother

All I want to do is sit on the couch, nothing other!

I don’t care about school

I don’t care about books,

I don’t care about TV,

And I don’t care about looks

I don’t care about my friends, my family, my neighbors

I don’t care if I’m late and I don’t do anyone any favors

I don’t care if it’s raining or if the sky is blue,

And frankly I don’t care all that much about you!

I don’t care what I eat

I don’t care what I drink

I don’t really work

And I don’t really think

I just want to sleep,

And maybe do nothing

Why is this happening?
I swear I’m not bluffing

I need a cure quick,

For finals are coming

And track season is here so I need to start running

And do something other than what I’ve been doing

Oh doctor oh doctor I can’t stop boo-hooing

A need a subscription

An antibiotic

To save me from this terrible case of not-caring-o-chronic

Pills, medication, I’ll take it I will,

I can’t fail my classes, I have life in me still

So hurry it up,

Before I realize,

That I don’t really care so much about my demise

I feel it coming on now,

Perhaps I should just go,

It doesn’t really matter

I’ll either live or die

Probably the latter

Goodbye dear doctor, this is too much of a chore.

I wrote this not because all of it is necessarily true, but because honestly we all feel like this sometimes.
Plus, I find it rather amusing.

Fun is my favorite band, and I love their music. Sadly, they only have one good album and a single (I've never really been into their first album).

Twenty One Pilots! It took me a while to get into their music but once I started listening more it grew on me pretty quickly. Their songs are also relatable and meaningful, and I like that.

George Ezra is just really nice to listen to- calm but whimsical.

I have only heard one Hawk Nelson song and I love it, so I need to listen to more. The beat is so great, and of course, the message of the song is awesome.

The Postal Service has super creative sounds and words that are very poetic and dramatic. Great to listen to anytime.

I generally don't like the Chainsmokers, but I love their song that they did with ROZES. It is super fun to listen to.

And of course, Shawn Mendes. I know everyone's listening to him right now and he's a little overplayed, but how can you not love Stitches?

Glass Sword Book Review

SUMMARY
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is the fantasy sequel to Red Queen (read that review here). It follows Mare Barrow, a girl with red blood but incredible lightening powers unlike anything silvers possess, as she works with the Scarlet Guard to locate and rescue all newbloods and train them for what lies ahead, which can only be civil war. Mare tries to appear strong and like the leader that the newbloods think of her as, but on the inside she is truly a glass sword- sharp and deadly, but prone to shattering.

SPOILER ALERT

I thought that Glass Sword was an awesome sequel to Red Queen, and well worth the wait. The plot was quick and engaging, the characters were nice and complex, and it finished with a terrible terrible cliff hanger that I really can't even think about.

Although the book was overall an awesome read, I still have a few minor critiques. One was the dramatic sentences that appeared at least once a paragraph. Those are fun to read during a climax, or right before a character's breaking point, or as foreshadowing, but when you are constantly reading them they sort of loose their umph, and become annoying and silly sounding, in my opinion. And in Glass Sword they were everywhere, so it would've been nice to see a little less of those. But the truth is, they were really nicely stated, so they would've been super powerful if they were not so frequent.

Mare was as usual an awesome character. I love her presence and her epic lightning power and her constant inner turmoil. But she got a little bit confusing in this book. I had a hard time seeing clearly what her goal was, what was driving her, since she continually seemed to circle back on past reasoning and question things she had said. As for her little thing with Cal, it was also a little confusing, but fine. I didn't have anything I really hated or loved about it, it was just there. I think that I am still with Mare and miss Maven, which is amazing that they author can convey that missing all the way past the characters to the reader. I really thought Maven was good back in the first book, and something about the way he's constantly mentioned in a longing way makes me think he's going to be coming back in more complex ways than just the villain.

The killing of Elara? I was happy, but it was a little anticlimactic. All that pursuing and drama with her and then she was just...dead. Shade's death really got me though, and I was very sad, both for Farley and Mare. I really liked Shade as a character, and he is death was a blow to the reader for sure.
*Also, plot prediction, I'm pretty sure Farley is pregnant!

I was also really sad that Kilorn and Mare sort of lost their connection towards the end of the book. I know that the author is trying to make the whole 'no friends, no trust' thing a prevalent theme, but it does a lot for a reader to have there be another character who the protagonist trusts, and I thought Kilorn would be that character. But then again, the lack of trust and constant doubting of alleged allies really does keep the reader on their toes, and forces you to question everything.

Overall, I loved this book. The ending nearly killed me, and I wanted nothing more than to read it once I had opened it. I highly recommend it, and I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!!!

Eleven Facts:

1) My favorite number is 2

3) I really really love the moon and the stars and space in general. Star gazing is one of my absolute favorites

1. What's the longest time you've gone without sleep? I actually have no idea, probably not that much, my family really loves sleep.

2. What's the best compliment you've ever received? The best compliment I've ever received...that's tough... I'm going to say the compliment that I am very wise, I don't know why but that always makes me feel good inside.

3. What do you feel you lack? Wow, ok, deep. I feel like I lack quietness. I feel that my life is always whirring or humming or singing, which can be good but sometimes it's important to be still.

4. If you could repaint your room (in one colour, no wallpaper or anything else), what colour would it be? This is going to sound very boring but white. I want it to be all white so that I can hang lots of neat pictures and art prints on it, without the colors clashing, and have tons of pops of color everywhere. I sort of want my room to be a blank canvas for me to paint on with all my favorite colors.

5. Have you taken your Myers-Briggs personality test? If so, what are you? If not, go and read about the 16 personalities (briefly) and what do you think you are (based on just reading the 16 personalities) I am an INFJ (I took the test after reading this question and it weirded me out how accurate it was)

6. Have you ever danced in the rain? Indeed I have

7. What's your heritage? On my dad's side, my ancestors came to New England with some of the very early settlers. They eventually moved to California to become apple pickers after the Dust Bowl. On my mom's side, I am also originally European, but my great great grandma was a Native American, and my grandpa is Jewish. I also have Native American on my dad's side as well I believe.

8. What is your perfect pizza? Bacon, basil, tomato

10. If you could be any age for a week, what age and what would you do? I don't know I guess I hope to be every age for at least a week and I suppose I will just do (and have done so far) normally extraordinary things in those week(s).

11. What would you do differently if you knew that no one was judging you? I think that I would wear dresses and skirts more and just dress more like myself. I don't know why but I always get self conscious in skirts and dresses and generally prettier things so I always chicken out and never wear them even if I really like them.

5. What was the last movie you watched? I believe it was The Martian, which was very good but not as good as the book.
